At an Oshawa council meeting last week, members of the 407 East Development Group provided an update to Oshawa City council on the progress of the 407E project.
The first phase of the project is slated to extend Highway 407 from its current termination point at Brock Road in Pickering to Harmony Road in Oshawa, as well as a link from the 407E to the 401 just east of Lakeridge Road between Ajax and Whitby.
407 East Development Group CEO Javier Tamargo said that the group is committed to completing phase one of the project by the December 2015 deadline.
The project will include building a number of bridges to accommodate traffic on arteries that intersect with the highway's path, including Highway 12 (Baldwin Street), Thickson Road, Simcoe Street, Taunton Road and Rossland Road.
Interchanges (exits) are planned at all of the above locations.
Further construction will be completed prior to 2020, which include the extension of the 407E eastward to Highway 35/115 near Kirby, as well as another north/south link just east of Courtice.
