March Real Estate Sales Report for Durham, Toronto Region

housesupMarch, 2013 sales figures have just been released by the Toronto Real Estate Board, and Durham Region's trend of outpacing Toronto in terms of year over year price gains continues. Durham region demonstrated a year-over-year composite (for all property types) price increase of 6.17%, compared to 1.5% in the City of Toronto and 2.91% for the entire Toronto Real Estate Board. Sales of detached, single family homes showed an  increase of 5.86% in Durham Region.  In Toronto, the increase was 1.55%.  Whitby rose 4.92%, Oshawa was up 7.37%, and Scugog an amazing 12.17% increase!  Other areas:  Ajax +6.13%, Brock 0.5%, Clarington +5.85%, Pickering +5.29%, Uxbridge +1.73%, York Region +3.28%. Sales of attached, single family homes showed an  increase of 6.78% in Durham Region.  In Toronto, the increase was 3.05%.  Whitby rose 7.08%, Oshawa +8.03%, and Scugog +3.89%.  Other areas:  Ajax +5.6%, Brock +4.08%, Clarington +7.39%, Pickering +6.12%, Uxbridge +2.18%, York Region +3.37%. Sales of townhouses increased 6.42% in Durham Region.  In Toronto, the increase was 3.38%.  Whitby was up 1.27% and Oshawa +4.19%.  Other areas:  Ajax +10,92%, Clarington +1.45%, Pickering +10.76%, York Region +5.77%. Condominium (apartment) prices rose in both Durham Region, by 10.7%, and in Toronto, by 0.54% and +0.76% for the entire GTA.  Other areas:  Ajax +11.31%, Pickering +14.36%, Oshawa +4.43%, Whitby +7.7%, Clarington +9.15%, York Region -2.37%. Sales volume in March has fallen across the board.  In the 416 area, volume was down by 21.6% over 2012.  The 905 are showed a decrease of 16.4%.
