Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace amassed an amazing empire before being murdered outside his home in 1997. His former Miami estate, called Casa Casuarina, is listed for sale at $75 million, having recently been reduced from it's original asking price of $125 million, then $100 million. At the time it was first listed, it was the most expensive home listed in the United States. It's not every day you see a property reduced by $50 million! He purchased the property in 1992 for close to $10 million, and spent about $33 million on expanding an entire wing, along with exterior plazas and renovations, including a mosaic pool lined in 24 karat gold! Originally built in 1930, the property now boasts over 23,000 square feet with 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. Many of the rooms have views of the Atlantic Ocean from it's Ocean Drive location. Most recently, the property was used as a hotel called Villa by Barton G.
