Oshawa Whitby Real Estate | January Home Sales Continue Rising Trend

housesup January, 2013 sales figures are now out, and Durham Region continues to experience exceptional Real Estate growth, according to the Toronto Real Estate Board. Overall, Durham Region showed a year-over-year price increase of 5.91%, compared to 2.64% in the City of Toronto. Sales of detached, single family homes show an  increase of 5.94% in Durham Region.  In Toronto, the increase was 3.23%.  Whitby rose 4.68%, Oshawa was up 6.90%, and Clarington an amazing 9.24% increase! Condominium prices rose in both Durham Region, by 6.09%, and in Toronto, by 0.83%.  These figures help to reinforce that condo prices in Toronto have continued to rise, despite continued predictions to the contrary by many in the media and financial markets.  Strong growth in Durham is a pleasant surprise, and bodes well for a strong spring market. Sales volume in January provided mixed signals.  In Toronto, volume is down by 7.66% over 2012.  Durham Region showed an increase over last year of 3.7%. With inventory levels still at relatively low levels, those considering selling property in the spring might want to consider getting a jump on the competition by listing early.  Give me a call anytime if you would to discuss further without any obligation.
